How so? Is that a good thing or a bad thing?CowsRTasty wrote:C. Stone wrote:I sat down and messed with GIMP for the first time today. I'm not very good at it, but at least it was fun.

I love it! You have to show us how to do that! The planet is so realistic. Teach me now!

I'm thinking it's going to take some Photoshop skills to make that. Good thing I've practiced.

Everything in my picture was free. I made it with GIMP. I don't really need Photoshop yet.Doraff wrote:I'm thinking it's going to take some Photoshop skills to make that. Good thing I've practiced.

Awwww......darn! Well, In my opinion Photoshop is better. For example I made my Avatar in 20 minutes with great detail. I don't think I could have done that with GIMP.
But if you ever need Photoshop, PM me. I've got a code sitting around.

Re: GIMP/Photoshop Thread
I know this is a BUMP but I think this thread needs to stay alive and I think this is an acceptable BUMP. If not then please correct me.
Anyway I was just messing around on the forum and ran into TB's blaster How to. I like the way it came out.

Re: GIMP/Photoshop Thread
Me and my friends have a project for German class. We have to 'sell' products and understand them as part of the culture. My group chose to make berliners- cream filled pastries. We used some gimp brushes and functions and threw this advertisement together. We're collaborating with the French and Spanish classes too, so we he had to give them some 'understanding' of our product. Not exactly Van Gogh, but you know what, it's ours and we're proud of it.
Re: GIMP/Photoshop Thread
Looks good, considering it was random. Are you making it for anything in particular?
Re: GIMP/Photoshop Thread
Nope, I just was inspired by the 76 (a gas station)'s logo.

Re: GIMP/Photoshop Thread
So I got Photoshop CS5 Extended, and I'm trying to figure out how to use it. I made this not using a specific tutorial, and just using what I know from GIMP:

Re: GIMP/Photoshop Thread
Quite a bit of a bump, but I feel like graphic design should be more popular in our community. Anyway, Photoshop CS4 Extended. It's awesome, a little out of date, but awesome none-the-less. I created this simple inlayed wood text effect using layer masks and a disco font called Bifurk.
I feel like I should post some tutorials to get this thread going again. Yes/No? Answer in the comments please.

Re: GIMP/Photoshop Thread
Yo, if anyone's interested, Photoshop CS6 is in beta, so you can use it for free for a limited time.

Re: GIMP/Photoshop Thread
How the friggums did you do that! With any kind of photoshop I am an anti-technology grandma. I have gimp 2.6, no idea how to do anything. One question though, what terrain did you start with, that you had to build and how did you copy the terrain?
Re: GIMP/Photoshop Thread
Wow. Old thread = old. Anyway. Here is a drawing that I made for my Chemistry teacher. There are a lot of "hidden" jokes in this, varying things that we have brought up in our class co-op (consisting of 5 students, 2 of which, myself and a good friend, are extremely sarcastic) all the way to jokes that we have brought up at parties. I'll explain a few.
The quality was "turned down" so it would upload faster. But I'll be printing it and framing it in high quality as his Christmas present.
Mole in the cage. Essentially (for those of you yet to have a chemistry course) there is something called the mole to mole ratio and we were joking around about it being a big furry animal to big furry animal ratio. Hence mole in cage.
Least Favorite son. (Pretty self-explanatory)
27ft squared (On the whiteboard). This is the answer we give for everything that is "obvious" in class. It is kinda funny 'cause he forgets we do it every week and every week he is confused how we get feet instead of grams. XD

Re: GIMP/Photoshop Thread
GIMP. That's a name I haven't heard in a long time. Cln-cmndo loved using it to edit. Such an archaic program today. But this program was a stepping stone for many.
