The 222nd Strike Legion Empty The 222nd Strike Legion

Post by Clonecommando007 Wed Jan 09, 2008 1:15 am

The 222nd Legion of the 101st Heavy Assault Corps of the Grand Army of the Republic:
The 222nd Legion was a planetary assault legion during the Clone Wars. Each of it's four Regiments were different, and each had it's special ability. Despite their differences, the Regiments all worked together in combat to complete their mission.

Legion = 4 regiments (9,216 troops) led by a senior clone commander and a Jedi General.
Regiment = 4 battalions (2,304 troops) led by a clone trooper commander, clone regimental commander, and a Padawan Commander.

Battalion = 4 companies (576 troops) led by a major.
Company = 4 platoons (144 troops) led by a captain.
Platoon = 4 squads (36 troops) led by a lieutenant.
Squad = 9 troops led by a sergeant.

Legion Crest:

The Commanders:

CC-6666 'Commander Shark'. (Senior Clone Commander)
The 222nd Strike Legion 3199249086_202ae3e909
CC-6666 revieved his unusual name because of his agressivness during battle. CC-6666 is under the direct command and on the payroll of a Republic Commando, CC-007. However, CC-6666 commands the Legion himself, as CC-007 often is away in the front lines.

Jedi Knight 'General Forlorn'. (Jedi Knight)
The 222nd Strike Legion 3199249096_2c10030c6f
General Forlorn is a very adept Jedi Master, that many belive hovers on the verge of turning to the Dark Side. Not much is known about Forlorn, not even his real name, except by the members of the council. It is suspected and rumored that Forlorn erased his personal data from the Jedi archives to conceal a troubled past.

Admiral Kirk (7th Fleet Admiral)
The 222nd Strike Legion 3199249112_c1ae7abd15
Admiral Kirk is the supreme commander of the Republic's 7th Fleet. The 7th Fleet is tasked with transporting and harboring the 222nd Legion, and though Kirk is supposed to command just the fleet, he is often found wandering into the battle command bridge on the other side of the Talon IV. He is excellent at coordinating his ships and starfighters to assist with the Legion's needs. Admiral Kirk is a recruit from Corellia.

The Regiments - Descriptions:

The 9th Cavalry Reigment:
The 222nd Strike Legion Comic6_016
Missing in Action, day 35, Clone Wars Recovered
A month after the Battle of Geonosis, the 9th Cavalry Regiment was deployed away from the rest of the Legion onboard an Acclamator Assault Ship to secure the moon of a great gas giant, Contour VII. The Republic lost contact with the assault ship midway through their journey through hyperspace to the moon. It was unknown what became of the 9th Cavalry Regiment, and the unit was presumed dead in a hyperspace accident.
However, what had actually happened was the Acclamator was yanked out of hyperspace by a mass shadow mine layed by a Trandoshan led regiment of CIS battle droids. The Acclamator was boarded and occupied, and for a year and a half, the 9th Cavalry battled the CIS inside of their spacebound prison. However, Commander Davy, the commander of the Regiment, was playing a slow fighting game, and decided to use the boarding as an oppurtunity to train his regiment to invincibility. Over the course of the year and a half, Davy made sure that, while slowly sweeping his ship clean, each trooper in the regiment got the combat experience and training they would need in any combat sphere. Once trained to the utmost of their abilities, Davy secured the ship and jumped it back to where the rest of the 222nd Legion was fighting, in the subterrain caverns of Helioscaunt. From there the Regiment was deployed into battle to assist in the conquest of the planet.
Commander Davy, however, was confronted by the Commander of the 101st Corps as to why he had only lost 50 men in the year and a half long struggle for his ship. Davy confessed that he had been ignoring his objectives in order to train his soldiers better, and after suffering an accusation from the corps commander of treason, shot and killed the Commander. Commander Davy's whereabouts are currently unknown, presumably directing his troops somewhere on Helioscaunt sheltered from the Shock Troopers who are currently attempting to find and arrest him for murder.

The 4th Mechanized Regiment:
The 222nd Strike Legion 3199249488_3b788e81e0_o
The Fourth Regiment of the 222nd Legion is a very elite regiment, consisting of mostly Infantry Support Tanks and Mechanized Infantry. The Legion did boast a small division of TX-130 fighter tanks for heavy support, however. Though the infantry units of the Regiment are highly trained in all forms of combat, they perform best when supported by light armor, such as that of the IST. Support vehicles for the 4th include 222nd Legion LAAT/c's and LAAT/i's.

The 10th Airborne Regiment:
The 222nd Strike Legion Lego_310
The 10th Airborne Regiment consisted of mainly Airborne Troopers, who bore blue and white armor and crestless helmets. The 10th Airborne units did not deploy in standard LAAT/i gunships, instead, they used the hyperdrive equipped Sentinel Class Landing Craft. The landing craft could move about the galaxy independent of the fleet because of their built-in hyperdrives, so units of the 10th Airborne were often sent about on commando or intelligence missions throughout the galaxy alone. The 10th Airborne also flew squadrons of ETA-2 Actis Interceptors from the Talon IV as fighter escort for the many gunships used by the legion.

The 54th Infantry Regiment:
The 222nd Strike Legion Lego_311
The 54th Infantry Regiment consists of orange and white armored troopers, brightly colored to distinguish them from the other Regiments in battle. The 54th are an Infantry Regiment, and so they are not equipped with any armor or other vehicles. However, they do possess many LAAT/i gunships to transport them in and around the battlefield. The 54th is a great unit to use to hold or defend a position, especially in an urban area. They are used to fighting with nothing but their brothers and their deece's.

7th Fleet Marines:
The 222nd Strike Legion 3198402071_864de89972_o
The 7th Fleet Marines were a shipboard defensive unit employed by the ships of the 7th Fleet, mainly the Talon IV and the Talon III, a Vesuvius Class Star Destroyer and an Acclamator Class Assault ship, resepctively. The 7th Fleet was under the directive to transport and defend the 222nd Legion. The 7th Fleet Marines were not Clone soldiers, but recruits from various worlds, although they wore Clone trooper armor. 7th Fleet Marines were equipped with jetpacks and pressurized suits for extravehicular activity, AKA so they could board enemy vessels in a vacum.

The Vehicles:

Sentinel Class Landing Craft
The 222nd Strike Legion Lego_312
Sentinel Class Landing Craft were still being developed during the Clone Wars, but the 10th Airborne was lucky enough to be equipped with several squadrons of prototypes. The Sentinels were hyperspace capable, featured an air-tight droppable troop pod, and was armed with two proton torpedo launchers and two medium laser cannons. Used by the 10th Airborne Regiment.

Low Altitude Assault Transport/infantry
The 222nd Strike Legion Vignet10
LAAT/i's, or Republic Gunships, were used heavily by the 222nd Legion. The 4th Mechanized, 9th Cavalry, and the 54th Infantry Regiments all used them as support ships.

All Terrain Tactical Enforcer (AT-TE)
The 222nd Strike Legion 3198402565_33578136b3_o
AT-TE's were used by the 9th Cavalry Regiment heavily, and even by a battalion of the 4th Mechanized Regiment. AT-TE's had two main cabins, fore and aft of the AT-TE midsection, both of which could house up to a dozen infantry. AT-TE's were often employed in surface battles, but were limited in their use during urban warfare and subterrain fighting, due to their weaknesses at close quarters.

TX-130 Saber Class Fighter Tank
The 222nd Strike Legion 3198402365_679e53f695_o
TX-130 Fighter Tanks were extensively used by the 9th Cavalry Regiment, and a battalion of them was also attached to the 4th Mechanized Regiment. The TX-130's repulsor engine gave it the advantage over AT-TE's in speed and clearance. The TX-130 could quickly rush through hostile zones, hover over wreckage, or penatrate deep into hostile territory in a lightning raid. Though very useful in almost any enviroment, the footsoldiers of the cavalry do not give as much respect to the Saber as they do to other vehicles. Saber tanks are not as helpful to infantry as are slower moving vehicles, and due to their speed, they often don't stay in one place for very long.

Infantry Support Tank (IST)
The 222nd Strike Legion 3199249424_58176856cb_o
IST tanks are used in the 222nd Legion exclusively with the 4th Mechanized. IST's are a great asset to infantry operations, and are most often seen in the front lines providing cover and support for foot soldiers. IST's do not have great speed, but their agility and acceleration is astounding, giving them the ability to strafe from side to side, dodging incoming fire and presenting a harder target for CIS gunners. IST's are used extensively in urban warefare because of their relatively small size.

ETA-2 Actis Class Interceptor
The 222nd Strike Legion Comic1clonewars_025
The ETA-2 was used by the 10th Airborne Regiment as an Air-Space superiority fighter, and as a fighter escort. The 222nd painted the fighters white and dark grey, and based over a dozen squadrons on the Talon IV. ETA-2's were also used by the 7th Fleet.

V-wing Starfighter
The 222nd Strike Legion 3199249546_0b3205ff71_o
V-wing Starfighters were used by the 7th Fleet and the 10th Airborne as interceptors and as fighter escorts for Gunships. V-wings were deployed in swarms in space battles, and could overwhelm even Vulture Droid starfighters with their numbers. The 7th Squadron of V-wings from the 7th Fleet formerly boasted, "We've never lost an intercept!" However, this taunt became false after an unknown starfighter escaped from interceptors during the Battle of Helioscaunt.

Advanced Infantry Dropship
The 222nd Strike Legion Dropship_027
AIDs, or Advanced Infantry Dropships, were created as prototypes in a program run by the Republic called 'Rapid Infantry Deployment'. The program funded the creation of dozens of prototype vehicles that could get infantry into the field; and fast. The AID was, of course, a successful product of the program, and 8 squadrons of 12 AIDs were flown from the 7th Fleet ships.

The vehicles could do with a fair bit of work. Make them more smooth. More Republic-y but the Clone troopers aren't bad. But your MAAT/i is not that good. Color cordiante it and try to make it less boxy. Hope that helps Smile

haha ok, thanks. I know, I don't really like my gunship as much. I'm working on the top of it; but it's supposed to look more like a converted civilian vehicle because It's made by Correlia.

There are several battalions of FAR Troopers that specialize in sniping, as well as several troopers who carry snipers.

Many standard infantry are equipped with snipers and made into sniper squads too.
